Henry and Liz

Hello, my name is Liz.  I am a 40 something housewife; the wife of Henry and the mother of 7 kids.  This blog is a place for me to try and articulate my thoughts and understanding of what it means to be a submissive wife in a traditional, male lead marriage.

Henry and I have been married for just over 20 years and have spent about 19 of those years in a contentious power struggle.  We remained ‘married’ based of a deep belief that LOVE  implies commitment and is not always correlated  as a ‘feeling’.

Last year we started exploring a husband led relationship which has ignited the FEELINGS of love that have been dormant for a long time.  Today I am free to express my FEMININITY under the safety of Henry’s protective covering.

I love Henry in a way that I have never experienced and he is free to be a  MAN and LEAD our marriage.  I am working through my ‘control’ issues and it is a daily process filled with many failures.

Henry and I have 7 kids – 5 daughters and the 2 youngest are boys.  Our oldest 2 are in college.  Our youngest is in kindergarten.  We hope to impart our new ‘vision’ of husband/wife relationships onto our children.  We desire to raise our sons to be ‘Boy Boy’s’ who can embrace their masculinity.   My 90’ish Grandma relocated from across the country and recently begin living with us.  I am often over whelmed at the many changes within my relationship to Henry and within our home.

I am a willing student and welcome your suggestions and insight.  Please refrain from attacking my ramblings and recognize that since this is MY blog – the expressions and comments are mine alone and are not meant to criticize or find fault with your own.   Thanks for reading my blog.  ~Liz

  1. Hello Mrs,
I’m so glad I found your blog. It’s always awesome to read about traditional marriages and hope to follow your blog more.

  2. Reading your stuff here resonates so much with me, Thank you for being another encouraging blogger.

  3. I’m so excited to follow your blog. I love reading about paths so different from my own. You’re an amazing person for living your life how it suits you.

  4. TiH is something I have just been introduced to and found it is something I desire. Never lived it, but for a brief moment of courting. Unfortunately, it did not work out. I have now been left confused and wanting to learn/experience more. Living in New England, working in a professional environment, TiH is not something typically sought out. I am not quite sure where to go from here. I am happy that you are following your heart.

    • Hi Dani,
I’d start by reading the blog titled “Finding Sara” http://findingsara.wordpress.com/ask-sara-and-grant/
She is a really good writer and very clearly is able to explain the in’s and out’s of TiH relationships. I learned a lot from her and her husband. For Henry and I – we are still finding our way, even after almost 2 years. Sometimes it is just easier to be submissive than other times and combining in the constant message of “don’t let a man rule your life” has made for a lot of ups and downs. In the end though, at least for us – having Henry lead our family and establishing rules/consequences has made us accountable to one another and brought an end to the constant power struggles. Good luck to you and thanks for commenting 🙂
